The Finials of Fall!

The initial FoF inspiration.

It all started with an idea.

Darlene Williford, sitting at her desk, looked over an online image showing Fall colors in an arrangement and thought “We can paint those here.”

“The next thing you know, I printed the photos, took them out to the workroom and the challenge was on,” she said.

Challenge indeed, as the J.L. Anthony painters set about gathering finials and poles in the workroom and started sketching their ideas for transforming poplar and steel into branches, flowers, pumpkins and leaves. It wasn’t unlike JLA’s work for designers wanting custom finishes from drawings, fabrics or photographs, but the transformation has been magical thus far.

Carl, Shelby & Dillon making magic

“So many ideas have been discussed but our main intent was to take these finishes up several notches,” said Production Supervisor Carl Williford “These are high-end finishes that could easily translate into residential or commercial applications for the right designer.”

Carl, along with Project Lead Shelby Clowdus and Lead Finisher Dillon Stone are not only providing outstanding interpretive finishes as part of FoF, they’re also managing a substantial workload as J.L. Anthony fall and holiday residential and commercial projects hit their zenith the final weeks of October.

The final designs, once reviewed by Philip Clemmons, will be assembled into a traditional fall horn of plenty sculpture, which will be photographed and donated for auction.
