Finials of Fall Finish Notes

Here for your reference are the individual scenes we compiled for the J.L. Anthony Finials of Fall, with production notes by Production Supervisor Carl Williford.

FoF One

1) Started off as J.L. Anthony “Rosewood” finish but with an added smokey black pearl glaze and copper trim.
2) J.L. Anthony “Chestnut” w/ gold trim.
3) Variations of the J.L. Anthony “Cordovan Mahogany” finish with gold trim. 1 3/8″ Spindle and Bannister finials used.
4) J.L. Anthony “Dark Walnut” finish on 2 1/4″ fluted ring
5) J.L. Anthony “Cordovan Mahogany” and J.L. Anthony “Burnished Gold” on and 1 3/8″ Acanthus finial
6) J.L. Anthony “Sage” finish on 2 1/4″ fluted ring
7) Darker variation of J.L. Anthony “Chestnut” with grey accenting in detailing

FoF Two

1) Variations of pecan and mahogany wood tones w/ silver accent streaking and light brown trim to resemble acorns. Done on 2 1/4″ Plymouth finials
2) 2 1/4″ Prescott iron finial done in a custom brown mahogany finish. 2 1/4″ reducer and rope pole done in a custom silver leaf w/ “rose copper” finish over. (This pairing was chosen to showcase a natural finish on an iron finial against a gilded finish over wood.)
3) Faux finish to resemble autumn corn w/ husk detailing and black kernel accents. Done on a 1 3/8″ Armstrong.
4) Copper leaf with rub through to show the brown base color. Glazed over with a custom pearl brown mix and an espresso trim on the base.
5) Faux finish using an off white base color and “dirty” antiquing to resemble a fall gourd. Bronze accenting the detailing.
6) 3″ Cantebury in a custom terra cotta base color with black antiquing and gold accents on detailing.

FoF Three

1) Faux finish using a light yellow base color with white antiquing and puddling to resemble a fall gourd. Green trim and accents.
2) Faux finish using a light green base color and brown antiquing with light brown accents. Done on a 1 3/8″ Miramar.
3) Faux finish using a custom orange base color and antiquing to resemble a fall pumpkin with brown and green accents.
4) Faux finish using a custom yellow base and grey antiquing to resemble a fall gourd with dark green trim.
5) 2 1/4″ Stratford finial stained yellow with orange and red shelling to accent the wood grain. (The finishing crew dubbed this piece as the “Autumn Sphere” during the project)

FoF Four

1) 2 1/4″ Prescott iron finial done in a custom brown mahogany finish. 2 1/4″ reducer and rope pole done in a custom silver leaf w/ “rose copper” finish over. (This pairing was chosen to showcase a natural finish on an iron finial against a gilded finish over wood.)
2) Darker variation of J.L. Anthony “Chestnut” with grey accenting in detailing on a custom finial.
3) The odd ball – so to speak – of the project was the most looked at and commented on during the entire project. It is a custom metallic base color done by mixing multiple colors of metallic pigments together. The floral detailing was trimmed with green stems and purple flowers with pink tips and red berries.
4) Copper leaf with rub through to show the brown base color. Glazed over with a custom pearl brown mix and an espresso trim on the base.
5) 3″ Cantebury in a custom terra cotta base color with black antiquing and gold accents on detailing.
